206. Biblical Value of Pi

Biblical Value of Pi

Solomon and the Molten Sea

Non-believers, Atheists and many sceptics use the following passage:

1 Kings 7:23

The huge cast bronze basin in 1 Kings 7:23 was 10 cubits in diameter and its circumference was 30 cubits, which is mathematically inaccurate. And this is what they say: Almost any schoolboy knows that the circumference of a circle is not the diameter times 3, but rather, the diameter times a well-known constant called “pi”.

Then there are those biblical scholars who defend it by saying: it is a rounding of, an approximation, saying the cubit was from elbow to fingertip so could not be a correct measure. In order to understand this I will first tell you something about Pythagoras.

When Pythagoras returned from travel and study in Babylon, India and Egypt, he founded a secret cult in southern Italy based on the numerical explanations for the phenomena of the universe. The Pythagoreans considered numbers to be the elements and origin of everything. While he is credited with the theory of the functional significance of numbers in the objective world and music, the bulk of his intellectual tradition belongs to mystical wisdom and scientific scholarship.

The Pythagorean doctrine applied number relationships to music theory, acoustics, geometry and astronomy, and deeply influenced the development of classical Greek philosophy and medieval European thought, including the astrological belief that the number harmony of the universe decidedly affects all human endeavour. This numerical mysticism also was embraced with the rise of Gnostic heresies, which plagued the early church and which also flowered in the medieval church.

Numerical mysticism is also deeply involved in Freemasonry and other occult practices. Now let’s look at what is generally said and found about this passage: Atheists often use this passage to demonstrate a mathematical error in the Bible, despite that fact that it is supposedly divinely inspired. Since the circumference of a circle is pi*diameter, a round sea could only be ten cubits across and thirty cubits around if Pi=3, rather than 3.1415 etc.

Here is something found on the internet:

Apologetic response

If you make a molten sea with a circumference of thirty cubits, you’ll find that the diameter is 30/pi or 9.55 cubits. Or ten cubits, to round to the nearest integer.

In short, the Bible does not say that pi must be three, unless you are going to assume that the numbers given are accurate to more than two significant figures, which is unjustifiable given the wording. Additionally, the Bible doesn’t claim that the sea was a perfect circle, just “round” or “circular”.

Summation

While some atheists like to cite this as a demonstration against strict Biblical literalism, as we could certainly expect greater precision if the words of the Bible come directly from a god, the argument tends to be viewed as trivial. While the argument can be useful, it would seem to be vastly overshadowed by the wealth of errors, contradictions, ambiguities and atrocities contained in the Bible. It is also worthy to note the inherent ambiguity of the cubit itself, based off of the length of the human forearm. Our ancient friends did not possess the accuracy of measurement that we do today. As you can see, both the Atheist and the so called Biblical scholars are wrong, including those who reject the new testament and say only the Torah is inspired by God and that none of the above scholars are true believers either.

http://www.thesanhedrin.org

This website is about the re-established Jewish Sanhedrin. The Sanhedrin is the name given in the mishna to the council of seventy-one Jewish sages who constituted the supreme court and legislative body in Judea during the Roman period. It continued to function for more than four hundred years after the destruction of the Temple and there have been several orthodox attempts to re-establish it since that time. The current attempt to re-establish the Sanhedrin is generally referred to as the “nascent Sanhedrin”, or the “developing Sanhedrin”.

Etymologically, Sanhedrin is a late Hebrew representation of the Greek word synedrion ????????? meaning “sitting together” as a legislative assembly or Senate. It is interesting to note that several aspects of the U.S. Senate, including the semi-circle seating of the senators, were derived from the Jewish Sanhedrin by the Founding Fathers of the U.S. Constitution. The Jewish Sanhedrin is a governmental body that resembles aspects of both the U.S. Senate and the Supreme Court.

The make-up of the council includes a President – Nasi, Chancellor – Av beis din, and sixty-nine general members who all sit in the form of a semi-circle when in session. Decisions are made by majority vote. The constitution of seventy-one is to preclude the possibility of a tie. Members of the Sanhedrin are not elected, nor is their position permanent. Any scholar, at any time, may gain a place on the legislature by proving a greater level of scholarship in Jewish Law than a current member of the legislature.

Nearly a year ago I wrote to the Sanhedrin, who also are involved in the rebuilding of the temple, about a vital point concerning the structure and measure. The reply was very similar to those of the scientists, I am the scholar and know, who are you to tell me that I am wrong? Yes, who am I…?

And it held 2000 bath (a bath is 22.5) therefore 45000 and 188496 (the circumference) divided by 45000 is 4,1888 which is indeed the formula to calculate volume.

(10 cubit 5236) x 5 cubit is 13707848. 5 cubit is 2618 ( golden ratio).
The next article will explain 2618 and its relationship to the ark of Noah.

Mathematically, take the etymology of the words quof and vaw (the Hebrew word used in this verse, versus the usual word for circumference), and you’ll find that the ratio of their numeric value (via Gematria) [(5 + 6 + 100)/(6 + 100)] is 1.0471698, which multiplied by 3 is pi. While two cubit is 1,0472 times 3 is 3,1416.

Look up word number “1047″ in the Old Testament lexicon. It is “Beth Peor”, spelled Beth is translated “house of”, and the first three letters of the last portion, peh, ayin, vaw can be transliterated as “pi.” Hence, “house of pi..”

But let’s have a look at 22/7 which gives you 3,1428571, now you might recall the story of the fishers of men and the 153 fishes in the net, both the sea and boat are mentioned. For those who have eyes to see and ears to hear, to others I speak in parables.

153 x 22 is 3366 x 7 is 23562 which is the Ark of Noah 300×50×30=45000 x52,36 = 23562 188496/3366 is 56 and 56 is as you will know by now the hexagram and pentagram in the story of the star of Bethlehem, the house of bread. And the cabbalistic trees.

Perhaps some of you might recall the number 117 3366 + 117 = 3483 does that ring a bell? 3(0)48(0)3 and 3483 plus 117 is 3600. 16×117=1872. By the way Nostradamus gave you 3769.92/32 is 11781. The zodiac plus one, 25918,2 (is 12)plus 11781=3769.92(is 13). But we are talking about a bowl in 1 kings 7:23 and the reason why its measure is given as a diameter of 10 and therefore a radius of 5 volume globe = 4/3 x ? x 5³ = 523,6 cm³ the cubit again, the whole is based on the 10 laws written on the two (circular ) tablets.

All points to the same: 5 times cubit is 2618 and the cubit divided 2 as the radius of a globe is 2618 ( and multiply this by 45 and you get 11781.
13707848/11781 = 1163. 5555..x 27 = 3,14159. 2618 divided by the bath 22.5 is 1163,555 and this times Pi is 365,542 less than 6 minutes and 3 seconds different from real time and far better than the one in use that has a 6 hour difference and need to add a day every 4 years and that is not enough as they also need to add yet again another day every 400 years, this only needs a correction every 240 years and 15 x 240 = 3600 years. While much more could be given, I will leave it at this and continue in the following article about the 2,618.
